Thesis is devoted to peculiarities of the clinical course and pathogenic mechanisms of PD development in patients with chronic hepatitis C and elaboration of complex therapeutic and preventive approaches in such patients. . An examination of 122 people with chronic hepatitis C in the history revealed сonsiderable spread of PD in the settings of HCV-infection, characterized by the progression of dystrophic-inflammatory process in periodontal tissues, severe bone destruction, deep periodontal pockets, more complicated course, and rapid progression. As complex therapeutic approaches to PD in patients with CHC it was suggested to combine a mechanical way to remove dental plaque with Vector-therapy, to use elaborated pharmaceutical agents of local action in the form of gel and rinse in optimal composition for pharmacological correction of the pathological process, to perform physiotherapy by means of electrophoresis with Erbisol to gingivae. Multivitamin preparation Aevit was prescribed to all patients as a means of general strengthening in the overall treatment. The efficacy of suggested complex therapeutic and preventive approaches of pathogenetically directed action was confirmed by the reduction in the average number of visits in the study group vs. the control group and approximation to indices in somatically healthy individuals of the control group. The immediate and distant results showed normalization and improvement of periodontal status of patients in the study group after the treatment and long-term stabilization of the pathological process in periodontal tissues, which was reflected by the achievement of levels of clinical and laboratory parameters of patients without viral liver disease.
