Essay

According the results of the clinical study it has been revealed that the increased tooth wear in young persons determined by the characteristics of occlusal relationships, including type of occlusion, nature of closing of frontal teeth, occlusion concept and presence of occlusal imbalance, which is accompanied by supercontacts. However occlusion factors do not play a decisive importance in pathogenesis of disease, but only determine predisposition to its development (r = 0.42, p ? 0.05). Hypertonicity of masticatory muscles also helps tooth wear (r = 0.60, r ? 0.05). In patients with increased tooth wear it has been set higher bone mineral density both mandible, and peripheral parts of skeleton, compared to persons with physiological enamel wear (p ? 0.05). According to the results of the study of stress-strain states on mathematical models it has been established risen bone mineral density of jaws increases the pressure on the occlusal surfaces of the teeth by an average of 7.1 ± 2.0 %, and increasing strain on 5.6 ± 1.7 % (p > 0.05), which promotes excessive tooth wear. The results of clinical trials have been demonstrated high efficiency of densitometry for early diagnosis of increased tooth wear. It has been shown that measures of occlusal correction using functional methods, including computerized, contributes 100 % successful rehabilitation of these patients.
