The thesis presents the results of the cross-disciplinary study of paranoid rhetoric in American political discourse. The achievements in the sphere of political discourse studies, psycholinguistics and cognitive linguistics serve as the theoretical-and-methodological grounds of the research conducted. The paper outlines the main approaches to the research of paranoid rhetoric in politics and elaborates an integrative approach which takes into account the psychological as well as the socio-cultural factor. Communicative-cognitive approach adopted in the research allowed to conduct a complex analysis of paranoid discourse of American politicians and establish the correlations of their typical verbal behavior and the conceptual sphere of their linguistic personalities.
