Essay

The thesis focuses on cognitive rhetorical functions of phraseological units in English magazine discourse. The research reveals that the pairing of form and meaning of phraseological units as constructions derives from the sensory-motor gestalts representing referents from the perspective of space and time location, force and motion. It also concludes that in English magazine discourse phraseological units perform eight cognitive rhetorical functions.
