The thesis comprehensively explores the structural framework and mythopoetic models of the Ukrainian drama of the end of the XX - the beginning of the XXI century, studies the evolution of productive connection between them and the role of myth in the structure. The thesis conducts a study of over 40 playwrights' texts (mainly those which have been staged in theatres). Some of them have been put into scientific circulation for the first time. The plays of the Soviet period have been reinterpreted without ideological prejudices. Besides the dissertation studies composite models of plays, their plots, ideas, characters, the time and the space. Different theories of the myth are used in the study, in particular the concept of Robert Barth about the models of mythological text that divided into three main types: traditional, ideological and artistic.
