Essay

The obtained results make it possible to widen existing knowledge about clinical pattern, endoscopic and morphological changes of the colonic mucosa, peculiarities of psychoemotional status of patients with irritable bowel syndrome, and to improve the diagnostics and elaborate the effective scheme of such patients' treatment. It has been determined that addition of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor such as escitalopram and tetracyclic antidepressant such as mirtazapine to the standard scheme of irritable bowel syndrome treatment contributes to more prolonged clinical remission and corrects the psychoemotional status of patients.
