Syvolotska S. Legal regulation of state support for farms by legislation of Ukraine and European Union

This research focuses on issues of legal regulation of state support for farms in Ukraine and the European Union, on formation of the theoretical foundations and development of practical recommendations to improve the existing Ukrainian legislation in this area. Periodization of the legislation of state support for farmers of Ukraine was conducted in the research. The definition of «state support for farms» was provided. The main directions of state support for farms were identified. Classification of farms as subjects of state support by Ukrainian and European legislation was provided. The definition of «farmer» based on the legislation of the European Union was formulated. Special attention was paid to the issues of legal regulation of direct support for farmers, in particular the use of direct payment schemes and support of non-agricultural activities which farmers are encouraged to pursue.
