Essay

This thesis suggests a new approach to identify the motivational bases of verbs denoting physical and mental state of subject in the Ukrainian and Hungarian languages. The nature of motivational relations in onomasiological and cognitive-semantic structure of verbs denoting the physical and mental state of subject has been revealed. The motivators (including the original) of verbal semantics of physical (physiological) state of the subject have been determined based on polysituational analysis in both languages. The onomasiological cognitive analysis of verbal denotions of mental (emotional) states of the subject in the Ukrainian and Hungarian languages has been carried out and the types of motivation have been identified. The common and different tendencies have been determined in derivational and cognitive-onomasiological motivation of verbs denoting physical and mental state of the subject in the Ukrainian and Hungarian languages.
