The dissertation is devoted to the study of theoretical, methodological and practical aspects of the development of strategic potential of agricultural enterprises as a prerequisite for the formation of their competitive advantages. In the course of studying and generalization of domestic and foreign literary sources the essence of the concept «strategic potential of agricultural enterprises» is specified, the theoretical and methodical principles of forming a management system for the development of the strategic potential of agricultural enterprises are taken into account, taking into account the factors of the external and internal environment. The methodical approaches to assessing the management system for the development ofstrategic potential of agricultural enterprises have been improved. The state and trends of agricultural enterprises development are analyzed, an assessment of the current state of management of the development of strategic potential of agricultural enterprises for further substantiation of measures to ensure their effective operation in the long-term. The conceptual approach to management of development of strategic potential of agricultural enterprises with consideration of influence of factors of external and internal environment on functioning of economic entities is offered, economicalmathematical forecasting of development and use of strategic potential of agricultural enterprises with the purpose of determination of the priority strategic guidelines of their activity is carried out. On the basis of generalization of domestic and international experience a system of measures for the development of strategic potential of agricultural enterprises has been developed in order to increase their economic efficiency in the long run.
