Essay

It was solved the Stepp's problem, that is, an example of H-closed but not absolutely H-closed topological semilattice was constructed. It was described all locally compact semigroup topologies on the polycyclic monoid. It was found sufficient conditions for polycyclic monoid to be H-closed. For an arbitrary finite ordinal a, locally compact topological a-bicyclic monoid is discrerte.
