Essay

The topic of the thesis is dedicated to piano suite genre development in the creative work of leading European composers of the first third of the 20th century. Analysed in the work are the piano suites of French, Austrian, German, and Ukrainian composers and the representatives of other national schools – such as C. Debussy, M. Ravel, F. Poulenc, P. Hindemith, A. Schoenberg, E. Krenek, B. Bartok, B. Britten, D. Shostakovich, M. Lysenko, Y. Stepovyi, V. Kosenko. Based on the detailed analysis of the given material the specifics of the composers work in this peculiar genre has been determined, similarities and differentness in techniques been discovered. Followed the functional expressions of impressionism-symbolism, neoclassicism and constructive urbanism, tacking into count national consensus groups traditions, which are noticeable in past epoch accomplishments. Also research has been done into individual creative pursuit path – experiments in spheres of composers lexis, fret-tone system, intonational origins of thematic invention.
