The system of deposition of sources on the history of urban development was mostly determined by the administrative structure and administrative-territorial structure. The state of preservation of necessary materials in archival institutions was researched. The small numbers of documents that are mainly copies made in the regional archives of the country are located in the central archives of Ukraine (ЦДІАК and ЦНТА). Of the county archives, most of the information on urban development is located in ДАЗО and is insignificant in repositories of Dnipro and Donets'k. The definition of informational possibilities of each types of represented base was paid attention. Designers were guided by the arrangement of old settlements during the design was proved. Thus, the basis for the laying of the imperial city of Ekaterinoslav was Polovitsa, Pavlograd - Matveevka, Aleksandrovsk - riverine zimovnyks of the River Mokra Moskovka, Nikopol' - Mykytyno and Mariupol' - zimovnyks around Kal'mius citadel. Further resettlement of the Cossacks led to the creation of new settlements outside the city. The authorities were forced to join these territories subsequently, but attempts to inscribe or adjust the building to the general planning system were useless. In the final, the officials engineered conversely the construction of Cossacks for new building. The pedigree more than fifty Cossack families of Oleksandrivs'k from the beginning of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries based on the list of voznesens in 1855 were established. The document indicates that these individuals though were credited to the inhabitants of Voznesenka, but in fact they had facilities in Olexandrivs'k. They continued to live within the city with the introduction of Russian power, although most of them settled on the outskirts.
