In this thesis it was researched local historical publications, put on the pages of Volyn periodical press XIX - beginning of XX centuries. Characterized stages of their development (from 1838 to the end of 1917): 1) 1838-1850 - stage of becoming; 2) Second half of XIX century - stage of claiming; 3) beginning of XX century - stage of new trends of development of new press issues. Developed schema of their classification by topic's sign (economic, military, educational, cultural and religious). Conducted complex historiographical analysis of each item in highlighted group of publications, which let to figure out the next: - majority of local historical publications are the result of painstaking investigative work of their authors; - local historical publications, having notable ideological implication, were important mean of political influence, served as peculiar informational bridge between the Government of Russian Empire, management structure of Volyn Governorate and its population; - lands of Right-bank Ukraine, the part of which Volyn had been, in the research scope period were in the compound of Russian Empire, which put some step on both: conditions of functioning of local press and on the preparation and publishing on their pages local historical publications; - in the preparation and publishing of local historical researches there were involved a lot of people: state and local servants, representors of clergy, teachers, doctors, etc. Defined value of local historical publications for modern development of local historical development, its source capability for learning: economic, military, educational, cultural, religious development of Volyn. It includes a big amount of statistic and fact materials. Being quite informative, some singles, by the way, publications contain mistakes in dates, family names, names of settlement, etc. Quite notable is also conscious distortions by their authors some separate phenomenon and events. Taking this in account, using local historical publications as a historical source, let it be maximum critical and careful. Confirmed an existence of the newspaper "Lucker Nachrichten", the data about have been uncertain yet.
