Shapoval O. Criminalistic Support of Economic Crimes Investigation

The author studies the concept, essence, substance, stages and structural elements of criminalistic support of crimes investigation, which include scientific and research, training and methodological and organizational activities of corresponding services which provide for proper conditions for practical realization of methods, techniques, tools of criminalistics, criminalistic tactics and criminalistic investigation methods and their direct application in criminal proceedings, aimed at fulfilment of its tasks. This study determines which crimes in the sphere of economic activity (Chapter VII of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and other crimes can be referred to as economic crimes. Based on the study of materials of case investigation, judicial and expert practice the author distinguishes typical problem aspects of technical and criminalistic support of investigation of economic crimes. This research has determined typical forensic examinations applied in criminal proceedings of the mentioned category, studied problem aspects of examination appointment and carrying out, estimated typical tasks solved by each kind of examination as well as typical tasks which may be solved through appointment of complex study of documents. The author grounded feasibility of psychophysiological examination in criminal proceedings of economic crimes. It has been also studied specific features of organization and tactics of searches, inspection (examination) and temporary access to documents in typical situation of investigative procedures.
