Essay

The thesis is devoted to the study of vocal stylistics peculiarities in the small-scale European opera end of the XIX - XX centuries. The scientific findings concerning a one-act opera structure as a mental feature of a small-scale opera are generalized and systematized. The main emphasis in the сompositions under analysis (one-act operas by P. Mascagni, S. Rachmaninov, A. Schoenberg, V. Gubarenko) is placed not only on compositional and dramatic characteristics, but also on the identification of leading tendencies of the genre in the field of vocal stylistics.
