Essay

The thesis is a study of English landscape descriptions' properties with the focus on phonetic aspect. The research is based within the framework of functional-and-communicative approach to the phonetic phenomena investigation. The descriptions under consideration are classified according to their localization, kind of landscape, seasons, time of the day, dynamic degree, position in the text, its length and emotional-and-pragmatic potential. The definition of landscape descriptions and their position and functions in the fiction prose are specified. The presented model of the language means' interaction involved in descriptive fragments' realization, is characterized by their single- and multi-vector interaction. The invariant patterns of English landscape descriptions and their variant realizations were experimentally ascertained according to their type and kind as well as their levels of emotional-and-pragmatic potential.
