Essay

The object of the research is verbal manifestations of institutionality in the American investigation discourse. The subject of the research is qualitative and quantitative characteristics of topics and dialogue strategies. The aim of the research is to establish the potential of topics and dialogue strategies which are the manifestations of institutionality and to determine their significance in the American investigation discourse. The methodological apparatus of the study includes the principles of anthropocentrism, functionalism, which are projected into the area of sociolinguistic and discourse analysis. The main research methods are the method of cognitive modeling, the method of structural-semantic and context analysis, conversation analysis, as well as quantitative and statistical analysis. The scientific novelty of the research is determined by the fact that for the first time the essence of institutionality as a sociolinguistic characteristic of discourse is revealed in detail and its qualitative and quantitative indicators are determined in the discourse of the American investigation. The theoretical significance of the work is determined by its contribution to discourse, communicative linguistics, sociolinguistics and conversation analysis. The practical value of the work is determined by the possibility of using its main provisions and conclusions in special courses on discourse, communicative linguistics, sociolinguistics; in the course of general linguistics (sections "Language and Thinking", "Language and Society").
