Essay

This dissertation is devoted to the analysis of narrator's communicative intentions in contemporary misery lit texts which represent a new genre of literary autobiography. On the lexical level stylistically marked are lexemes in the function of epithet, metaphor, simile and hyperbole. On the syntactic level stylistically coloured are parallel constructions, repetitions, inversion and rhetorical questions. The most typical means of the realization of narrator's communicative intentions in misery lit texts is a verbal component in indicative mood (sometimes with exclamation lexemes) which makes 75 % from the general amount of verbal lexemes in narrator's speech acts.
