The thesis is focused on determining the essence and peculiarities of administrative and legal status of the agencies of pre-trial investigation of the National Police of Ukraine, as well as the ways of its improvement. Particular attention is paid to the historical and legal analysis of the development and formation of the agencies of pre-trial investigation in Ukraine and, accordingly, to the outline of the modern system of the agencies of pre-trial investigation bodies of Ukraine, and the place of investigative units of the National Police of Ukraine in this system. The legal principles of the activities of the agencies of pre-trial investigation of the National Police of Ukraine have been clarified; the essence, structure and peculiarities of administrative and legal status of the agencies of pre-trial investigation of the National Police of Ukraine have been specified. The main emphasis has been made on the problem of the delimitation of competence, application of administrative and legal methods and forms in the activities of the agencies of pre-trial investigation of the National Police of Ukraine, their legal liability. The ways of improving administrative and legal status of the agencies of pre-trial investigation of the National Police of Ukraine have been determined, in particular, the author has analyzed the international experience of law enforcement activity of the police investigative agencies and the possibility of its implementation in Ukraine. The directions of improving interaction between the agencies of pre-trial investigation of the National Police of Ukraine and other subjects of law enforcement system have been singled out.
