Essay

The work is dedicated to the investigation of complex formation in binary molecular solutions and its influence on mutual diffusion processes. The usage of infrared absorbance spectroscopy allows us to obtain information about complex formation processes in binary solutions. Preliminary analysis of spectra was performed by two dimensional correlation spectroscopy techniques to distinguish spectral regions where influence of intermolecular interaction is sufficient. Multivariate curve resolution techniques were used for the determination of quantitative information such as concentration profiles of solution components. Model-based decomposition of spectral data matrix allows the determination of additional physical quantity, such as an equilibrium constant of the corresponding quasi-chemical reactions. Concentration dependence of mutual diffusion coefficient can be explained by taking into account complex formation processes.
