Essay

The thesis is a complex research of theoretical, methodological and practical aspects of the integration of enterprises of certain types of economic activity into international production networks. The analysis and systematization of approaches to the concept of "industrial integration" has been realized. The assertion that industrial integration occupies a special place in the theory of economic integration was substantiated. The author's approach to the definition "industrial integration", which emphasizes the relations that arise as a result of the interaction of enterprises in the branches of industrial production, was proposed. The study systematized the existing approaches to isolating forms and types of industrial integration. Based on it, the assertion that international production networks (IPN) are a special form of integration of enterprises in the industries of industrial production was substantiated. International production networks are characterized by different principles of formation in comparison with other integration forms, which in the process of convergence allow combining phenomena such as cooperation and competition, to reconcile the goals of individual participants with the general purpose of the functioning of the IPN, to take into account the interests of the state in terms of economic security under the conditions of inclusiveness in the global production process. The tools for evaluating the participation of enterprises of the undercurrent types of economic activities in international production networks have been analyzed. It has been established that methodological approaches to the analysis of industrial integration should take into account the differences between the sectoral structures of developed countries and developing countries in order to assess the ability of enterprises of certain types of economic activity to industrial integration, to identify restrictive and stimulating factors and to assess the macroeconomic effects resulting from such interaction, which are uneven across countries. An analysis of the sector specificity of the Ukrainian economy in the context of integration in the IPN was conducted. It was revealed that in the process of integration into the IPN in the economy of the country there are shifts. The intensity and dynamics of structural changes directly depends on the level of economic and technological development of the country. It has been analyzed and proved that the level of development of factor conditions significantly influences the intensity and ability of enterprises of certain types of economic activity to industrial integration. Significant disproportions in the development of domestic industries in the context of integration into the IPN were identified. The positioning of certain types of economic activities has been carried out to determine the place of a country in the global production process in terms of forward and backward participation in the global value chains (GVC). Given the existing economic and technological levels of development, the necessity of state support of integration into the IPN was substantiated. It is proved that for certain types of economic activity, the various combinations of determinants of industrial integration are influenced on the intensity of participation in the IPN. The existence of this fact led to the necessity of distributing industrial activities to strategic groups: group of priority development, group of necessary development and group of supporting development. The strategic directions of support of integration of national enterprises in the IPN are determined. These directions are based on a selective approach to employing tools for promoting industrial integration for different strategic groups. Such an approach reduces the probability of ineffective choice of measures of state industrial policy in the context of integration into international production networks.
