This paper summarizes the basic theoretical concepts about the nature of economic efficiency of pig production, the main factors and features of its formation in agricultural enterprises. The concept of economy, efficiency and effectiveness is analyzed; the organization of pig production in enterprises in the context of evaluating the effectiveness of such initiatives are discussed; methodological approaches to determining the economic efficiency of the pig production in agricultural enterprises are given.
