Object - stem pests in pine stands (bark beetles, jewel beetles, longhorn beetles), modern insecticides; the aim - substantiation of felled wood protection from stem pests on the base of revealing the peculiarities of their spread, phenology and injuriousness in pine stands of the North-Eastern Steppe of Ukraine; methods - entomological, field, laboratory, statistical, calculated; novelty - In the pine stands of the North-Eastern Steppe of Ukraine 25 stem insects from 21 genera were found; it was proved that colonized part of stem differ in living and trees; it is shown, that the most valuable wood is colonized most of all by Monochamus galloprovincialis, Acanthacinus aedilis, Ips sexdentatus and Orthotomicus proximus;. Sums of positive temperatures and duration of development were evaluated for different stages of seven the most abundant stem pests; it was shown that the most of studied stem pests hibernate as adults, but Monochamus galloprovincialis, part of population Acanthacinus aedilis and Ips acuminatus hibernate as larvae; results - injuriousness of stem pests was evaluated considering their occurrence and tree colonization; injuriousness of Orthotomicus proximus was proved as the pest of felled wood; rather high technical effectiveness of insecticides Konfidor Maxi WG, BI-58 CE, Zolon 35 CE was proved for harvested timber protection from stem pests. sphere - forest protection.
