Essay

The dissertation is dedicated to the traditional musical culture of the historical and geographical Maramoros area in the aspect of the ethno-cultural borderland. Now it belongs to two modern states: Ukraine and Romania. Folkloristic work has been carried in selected areas, there was collected recordings of traditional somgs of Maramoros, ethnographical information; collected information was analyzed as a ethnographic features, genre composition, forms of vocal creativity of the region; the main melotypes of Maramoros were installed and mapped; the principles of interaction of stylistic territorial entities were revealed and correlated with the natural-geographical and political-administrative structure of the studied territory. The research of the folklore of the indigenous Ukrainian population of Maramoros greatly broadens the perception of the geography of the way the Ukrainian traditional music lives.
