Essay

The dissertation is dedicated to increase the effectiveness of the complex treatment of non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy by normalizing redox reactions in the patients with correction of metabolic status disorders of nicotinamide coenzymes in the mesh shell of the eyes and blood with the help of preparations containing nicotinamide. On the model of streptozotocin diabetes, the indicators of nicotinamide coenzymes and bioenergetic processes in the retina of the eyes and blood of Wistar rats were studied and the effect of nicotinamide-containing preparations on their dynamics was evaluated. In a clinical observation of 107 patients with initial forms of diabetic retinopathy, the normalizing effect of nicotinamide-containing preparations of cytoflavin and catachrom on the correction of metabolic status of nicotinamide coenzymes in the blood was shown. Practical recommendations on the use of a new method for the treatment of nonproliferative diabetic retinopathy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and the feasibility of studying the level of nicotinamide coenzymes (oxidized and reduced forms of NAD and NADP) in mucous and blood in patients to determine the effectiveness of the therapy are developed.
