Essay

The design of the railway track and the features of the interaction in the "wheel-rail" contact for metro conditions, in comparison with the main routes, have a number of differences. They contribute to the emergence and development of damage, which can lead to premature exit of the subway rails to defective rails. Main metro routes are mainly located in tunnels (the main routes of the Kharkiv Metro subway do not include ground links), with relatively short distances between stations. These circumstances make it necessary to adhere to the special regime of train traffic. That is, on the subway lines with a large number of curves of sections of small-radius paths, there is a need to create a large number of brake sections and sites for rapid dialing of the speed of trains. These circumstances create conditions for the emergence of additional force effects on the elements of the upper structure of the track and lead to an increase in the degree of contact fatigue processes that result from such interaction in the wheel-rail contact of the metro routes. Currently, the PK "Kharkov Metro" runs rails of the P50 type. Moreover, the strategy of trajectory management of the Kharkov Metro does not provide for the use of rails with relatively high strength characteristics. It is these circumstances that make it necessary to develop technical solutions to increase the service life of the P50-type rails of subway ways, such as those that will continue to be used in the routes of the Kharkiv Metro, with a tendency to increase passenger turnover and, correspondingly, freight traffic.
