The thesis is devoted to the analysis of the means of verbalization of universal and national concepts in British children's literature. The achievements in the sphere of linguocultural studies and cognitive linguistics serve as the theoretical and methodological grounds of the research conducted. The methods of analysis used in the paper have made it possible to single out universal and national concepts in the texts of British children's literature and to describe their structure and means of verbalization. The concepts HOME, MONEY and PRIVACY are identified as national concepts typical of the British picture of the world presented in the texts of British children's literature. The concepts MOTHER, BIRTHDAY, PLAYand TOY are regarded as universal and especially valuable for the British children's picture of the world.
