On the basis of an in-depth study of scientific and literary sources on the problems of the subject and the generalization of the theoretical positions, such notions as “competitive abilities”, “сompetitiveness”, and “organizationally-economic mechanism” are clarified, which are the basis of the substantiation of the conceptual foundations for the formation of an effective organizational and economic mechanism for ensuring the competitiveness of enterprises, taking into account their life cycle and selected models of the organization. The methodical approaches for assessing the organizational and economic mechanism for increasing the competitiveness of enterprises are improved. The methodologies for assessing the components of competitive sustainability of enterprise, namely: resources, economic, social, ecological, managerial, organizational potential and business reputation are proposed. The current state and trends of agricultural enterprises development are evaluated; diagnostics of the organizational and economic mechanism of their competitiveness are assessed on the basis of our substantiated research technology to identify the strengths, opportunities, weaknesses, and threats. The scientific principles of the organizational and economic mechanism are proposed and the conceptual approaches to the development of a set of prerequisites for the formation of an effective organizational and economic mechanism for increasing competitiveness of enterprises are substantiated, as well as a method for assessing the competitiveness of enterprises to increase the level of validity of managerial decisions when choosing time and space lags of enterprises in their development.
