Prykhodchenko O. The conceptualization of the opposition LIFE – DEATH in the Gothic worldview (based on the English novels about vampires)

This dissertation focuses on the complex analysis of the opposition LIFE – DEATH and its representation in the English Gothic worldview. It is the reflection of thoughts, ideas, understanding, which shows the perception of real and unreal / supernatural world in their symbiosis and determines the role of the human being in the world. LIFE and DEATH are two linguistic and culture universals that are also central to the distinctively Gothic worldview. The results of this study may suggest a broader hypothesis for further research into the diachronic investigation of the opposition LIFE and DEATH in the English worldview with the help of the complex analysis which is proposed in the thesis. The further scientific researches may be directed to the study of other opposed concepts in various linguocultures.
