Toropceva A. Ukraine and the Ukrainians by the view of Charles Dubreuil: the source analysis of the memoirs "Deux ann?es en Ukraine (1917-1919)".

The thesis deals with the analysis of the memoirs of French figure and professor Charles Dubreuil "Deux ann?es en Ukraine (1917-1919)" that are devoted to Ukraine and Ukrainian people. Memoirs are the combined work that contains the elements of memories and investigation. The views of the author concerning the problem of the state formation of Ukraine, the perspectives of its independent development and the question of the identity of the Ukrainians have been analysed. Also, the overview of the memoirs concerning the military history of Ukraine of the First World War period has been presented. The author has given coverage of many-sided aspects of the Ukrainian history against the background of the military events: social, political, economical, etc. "Deux ann?es en Ukraine (1917-1919)" has its own singularities, genre specific character, linguistic stylistics, that mark out memoirs from the others types of historical sources. Memoir sources are specific type of the literary and historical genre.
