Essay

In the thesis, for the first time, the works of modern Russian, Soviet, Russian modern, foreign historiography devoted to the study of Soviet-Finnish relations during the Second World War are systematized and generalized. The contributions and omissions of scientists of each approach to the study of this problem are determined. In the thesis for the first time, the Ukrainian aspect of the component of the Soviet-Finnish confrontation in 1939-1944 was singled out. The peculiarities of the military confrontation between USSR and Finland in the context of the Second World War were revealed, which, in the end, became the basis for creating a new platform for relations between these countries in the last quarter of the 20th century in historiographic studies. Defined were insufficiently studied or falsified aspects of the problem, requiring further scientific development and, correspondingly, promising areasof future concrete historical research.
