Essay

The dissertation is devoted to improvement of the efficiency of treatment patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic kidney disease by the usage of beta-phenyl-gamma-aminobutyric acid and L-arginine in the complex therapy. It has been established that patients with diabetic kidney disease deal with an enhancement of blood leukocyte apoptosis, activation of lipid peroxidation and depletion of antioxidant protection. The progression of chronic kidney disease leads to the worsening of these changes. The influence of the I/D gene polymorphism of the angiotensin-converting enzyme on the course of diabetic kidney disease and arterial hypertension was studied. It has been investigated that in patients with D/D gene polymorphism of the angiotensin-converting enzyme the indices of blood leukocyte apoptosis and average daily blood pressure are the highest. The complex treatment with the inclusion of beta-phenyl-gamma-aminobutyric acid and L-arginine in the standard regimen leads to a decrease in the indices of blood leukocyte apoptosis, normalizes lipid peroxidation and enhances antioxidant defense, which positively affect the psychosomatic status and improve patients’ quality of life.
