Object: historical development of international relations and colonial confrontation in the world in the middle of the XVIII century. the peculiarities of the process of building the British colonial empire in the middle of the eighteenth century were considered. taking into account the specifics of the development of a strategy for conducting military campaigns in each theater of confrontation, the role of organizers and executors of expansionist enterprises, the ratio of the warring parties, the influence of the third forces in each of the regions where the struggle was conducted. The changes in the views of the British ministries' leaders concerning the objects of the colonial struggle, which are due to the transformations in international relations of that time, the course of hostilities, and internal political struggle, were traced.
