The dissertation is devoted to the investigation of the history of the development of views on the inner structure and planning of ancient classical city Olbia Pontike from the end of the VXIII - first third of the XX cc. - from the localization of this ancient Greek monument to the beginning of "slavin" period - the time of appearance of typical soviet model of the organization of archaeological investigations in Olbian expedition. The historiography of this matter and the main circle of publications of these problems were considered too. The main complex of questions bounder with the difficulties of the organization of archaeological investigations of the monument is described.
