Essay

The results of the influence of modified Fresnel's prisms on the visual characteristics of 235 children, on the basis of which developed the combined action glasses that combine simultaneously the refractive and prismatic lenses together and perform simultaneously three functions: pleoptic, orthoptic and correction of refractive anomaly, are analyzed. With the help of these glasses, 88 children with dysbinocular amblyopia were treated and compared to the results of 61 children with hardware-pleopto-orthoptic treatment. The greater the force of the prism is determined, the greater the impact it has on the visual acuity, binocular vision and contrast sensitivity. It was established that the treatment of dysbinocular amblyopia with prismatic glasses is more effective in contrast to the hardware. The positive effect of glasses on both monocular and binocular visual indicators due to prolonged continuous treatment is determined, which is not possible with hardware treatment. The technique of selection of sphero-cylindrical-prism glasses is developed. The timing of treatment with these glasses is determined - the best results are marked after 6 months, unlike 3 months. Provided practical recommendations for doctors ophthalmologists regarding the selection and treatment of prismatic glasses.
