Essay

The thesis studies territorial variation of prosody in Canadian English and presents the results of comprehensive analysis. The diversity of prosodic features in Canadian pronunciation is conditioned by various contacts and inhomogenous character of intergrational process in territorial locuses which is explained by historical links with England, Scotland, Ireland, North America and by social and cultural synthesis. High frequency of Level and Descending Stepping Head, fractional syntagmatic division, initial strong tone contour are national specific characteristics of Canadian English prosodic system.
