This thesis studies semantic-functional peculiarities of English cosmopoetonyms as the integral components of the literary text figurative system, analyses theoretical academic works on the subject matter, clarifies basic cosmopoetonymic concepts, developes a denotative-nominative classification of cosmopoetonyms as well as their research methodology. The work also focuses on structural and functional features of cosmopoetonyms in English science fiction as a literary genre, outlines cosmopoetonyms mental essence, their structure and dominant gestalts of their associative fields and singles out eight types of reactions.
