Kazymir I. Shakespearian Eptonyms: Structural and Functional Aspects

This thesis presents a complex study of Shakespearen eptonyms. The dissertation outlines the theoretical approaches to the analysis of the object. Methology of the following research is defined. This research is devoted to highlighting the process of formation of popular quotations, differentiation of the related concepts and the analyses of characteristic features of eptonyms as a peculiar category of phraseological units considering traditional and modern investigation approaches. The research is based on the factual material selected from W. Shakespeare plays. It is considered that the existing hierarchical language system characterizes the process of transition from lower to higher levels in a contacting and absorbing way of subsystems. It has been traced the frequency of the corpus of eptonyms considering its lexical and graphic fixation. Eptonyms containing the onymic component have been viewed.
