Essay

The thesis devoted to the study of antibiotic-associated disorders of intestinal function and their role in the development of irritable bowel syndrome. It was prowed that antibiotics are important trigger factors for irritable bowel syndrome development. It was detected that irritable bowel syndrome develops in 32.2 % of patients after antibiotic therapy, most often in age group 21–40 years. Clinical peculiarities of antibiotic-associated irritable bowel syndrome were analyzed. Using breath test with glucose we established the changes in biocenosis of small intestine, demonstrated as excessive bacterial grown. The changes in biocenosis of large intestine also were revealed. A model for the predicting the risk of irritable bowel syndrome after treatment with antibiotics was developed. It was established that the use of probiotics enterol 250 and hilak forte in combination during 2 weeks in recommended doses is appropriate to reduce the risk of irritable bowel syndrome development.
