Essay

The thesis has been dedicated to the research of the problem of the integrity of the imagery world of the operas by the French composer Francis Poulenc. The study has highlighted the originality of the imagery world of the literature sources, which became the basis of the Poulenc’s opera librettos. This work has explored the specifics of «reading» of literature primary sources of operas by Francis Poulenc. In addition, the main components of the imagery world of each opera by F. Poulenc, depending on their genre and style specifics, as well as common and unique features of the imagery worlds of the studied operas have been revealed. Further, components that are basic to the integrity of the imagery world of Francis Poulenc have been outlined. The examined aspects of the imagery world of F. Poulenc in this thesis deepen the understanding of the psychology of his creative thinking. These aspects allow reflecting on the heritage of the composer through their unique integrity on a new level. They give an opportunity to trace the ways of the renewal of the genre of opera in the middle of the twentieth century. Moreover, they expand the notion of the cultural-historical processes in France during early and mid-twentieth century.
