Kovalska S. Plant biomass dynamics of the Southern Prydniprovske Polissya artificial pine forests

The thesis is devoted to the study of plant biomass dynamics of artificial pine forests of the Southern Prydniprovske Polissya, development of their assessment models, deposited carbon volumes determination in phytomass and mortmass pine plantations of the study region. The analysis of forestry and taxation characteristics of the pine forest stands of the Southern Pridneprovsky Polissya is carried out. Temporary test areas were set up to assess the phytomass and mortmass of artificial pine forests in the studied region. Statistical analysis of phytomass components indexes and forest stands mortmass was carried out. The presence and strength of plant biomass components linear connection with basic taxation indexes of pine stands was determined using correlation analysis. To quantify plant biomass of artificial pine forests a search of mathematical relations of trunk wood, trunk bark, trunks in the bark, branches, needles, forest live cover phytomass and mortmass with basic forest stands taxation indexes. The total volume and density of plant biomass of artificial pine forests of the Southern Pridneprovsky Polissya and the deposited carbon in it are calculated. In this thesis the dynamics of plant biomass with age was calculated. It is found that biomass accumulation is provided by phytomass and mortmass volumes increment.
