Essay

The thesis contains the integrated analysis of lingvopragmatic parameters of speech genre “monograph” based on the Information Technologies texts study. In the scientific paper the semantic and stylistic features of terminological language units in English scientific monographs on Information Technologies are described. They are classified and characterized in accordance with: a) semantic relations between them; b) their theme; c) word-formation structure; d) stylistic and functional peculiarities. It has been proved that semantic relations between language units aremanifested in synonymy, antonymy, meronymy, hyponymy, polysemy and omonymy paradigms. In English monographs on Information Technologies the semantic structureof different language units (words, word-combinations and sentences) may include pragmatic components. According to the character of their pragmatic component the analyzed lexical units have been classified into ones with intention, emotional and implicational meaning. The pragmatics of word-combinations is actualized by means of nominative, emotive, evaluative and pragmatic components. The analysis of pragmatic potential of sentences showed that in English monographs on Information Technologies the most widely used are such pragmatic types of sentence as representative (the term of D. Wunderlich) and constative (the term of G. Pocheptsov) ones; some quesitives (the term of G. Pocheptsov) or interrogative sentences can also be found there. According to their function language units used in the texts of English monographs on Information Technologies have been classified as nominative, informative, evaluative, expressive, definitive, specifying, explanatory and impelling.
