Chui S. Vasyl Slapchuk’s poetic creativity: versification aspect

The dissertation is the first attempt to analyze the artist’s poetic achievements in the versification aspect. It is characterized by several aspects of novelty: for the first time the array of the artist’s poetry works is involved in the analysis; for the first time V. Slapchuk’s poetry has been investigated in the aspect of metrics, stanzas and rhyming; for the first time poet’s verses have been considered in diachronic development; for the first time the genre specificity of V. Slapchuk’s poetry have been solved. The initial parameters of V. Slapchuk’s versification system have been set on the material of his first poetic collections. They are: orientation to the tradition of classical versification; iambic dominant (the poet prefers using a iambic tetrameter); quatrain composition of poems, which predominates; interest in canonical stanzas (sonnets) and, at the same time, rethinking of canons; a large number of lines with inaccurate rhymes. In the collections that came out after 1996 a stable free verses dominant was formed. The poet pays more attention to the form of free verses.
