Essay

This research focuses on revealing linguostylistic means, narrative strategies and tactics of narrative masks’ functioning in postmodern discourse. Narrative mask is viewed as a narrator’s image, which incorporates preconceptual, conceptual and verbal hypostasis. Classification of narrative masks of lawyer, reporter and trickster is carried out via defining content and meaning of primary and secondary nominative units of narrative masks’ names, which correlate with the semantics of concepts «attorney», «reporter» and «trickster». The communicative-pragmatic approach to the study of narrative masks in the postmodern discourse made it possible to distinguish two main strategies – intimization with the reader and distancing, the communicative and pragmatic tactics of which are the tactics of sincerity, advice, argumentation, disagreement and confusion. Key words: image of the narrator, narrative mask, narrative situation, narrative strategies and tactics, postmodern discourse.
