Object - South American tomato moth, potato moth, tomatoes, pheromone traps, insecticides; the aim - improve the system for detecting the reservations of the quarantine species of the borer moths on tomatoes and taking into account the peculiarities of development to substantiate the control system of their numbers in the conditions of the Black Sea steppe; methods - entomological, field, laboratory, statistical, calculated; novelty - for the first time, reservations of South American tomato moths in Ukraine were identified and for potato moths - were clarified; specifics of the biology of tomato moth T. abcoluta Meyr. are clarified in the conditions of the Black Sea steppe; A defining table for identification of phytophagus from the Gelechiidae family has made; estimated population density of quarantine moth and established seasonal dynamics and correlation with the weather conditions of the growing season; the phenology of quarantine phytophages on tomatoes was investigated and the acclimatization of South American tomato moth in this region was first proved; with the help of geographic information technology (GIS), the possibility of distributing South American tomato moths to other regions favorable to its development was substantiated; for the first time the system of global positioning (GPS) of the Garmin 60 navigator has been adapted to work with quarantine organisms; the system for controlling the number of South American tomatoes and potato moths in a complex with an integrated tomato protection system from other types of pests has been improved; the effectiveness of chemical and biological insecticides for spraying tomatoes against moths was evaluated; results - the comparison tomato and potato moth, the phenophase of their development is investigated; defined technical efficacy of chemical and biological origin insecticides, Voliam Flexy 30%, e.k., Korahen 20%, e.k. Spintor 24% e.k. Prokleym 0.5%, w.s.g. against moth
