Object of research: there is a set of legal relationships that arise during the pre-trial investigation of crimes in the field of sugar production. The purpose: to form criminalistic characteristics and to determine the peculiarities of investigation of crimes of economic orientation in the field of sugar production, as well as to develop proposals and recommendations aimed at improving the pre-trial investigation. Methods: general and special methods of cognition, in particular: dialectical, historical-legal, formal-logical, systemic-structural, legal analysis, sociological, comparative-legal. Theoretical and practical results, scientific novelty: the state of crime in the sphere of sugar production and its determinants were researched, the role of countering economic crimes of the departments of the National Police of Ukraine, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor, the State Audit Office of Ukraine , the electronic ProZorro Procurement System; characterizes the specificity of conducting first-class investigative (search) actions taking into account the peculiarities of the investigation of crimes in the field of sugar production, and provided recommendations for the inspection of the place of the event, examination of documents, interrogation, search, investigator's experiment; certain features of preparation and conducting of forensic goods, judicial and economic (accounting), as well as some other types of forensic examinations - handwriting, trasologic, materials, substances and products (food products) during the investigation of crimes in the field of sugar production;
Improved: the forensic description of crimes in the field of sugar production and its main structural elements are as follows: the method of committing a crime; traces of a crime; subject of encroachment; the person of the offender; place, situation and time of committing a crime. It is noted that the correlations between elements of forensic characteristics are influenced by the features of the technological process of sugar production and the methods of committing crimes; the issue of organizing the interaction of investigators with operational units, controlling bodies during the investigation of crimes in the field of sugar production, and the role of state financial control bodies in revealing the causes and conditions for the commission of crimes; certain issues related to the peculiarities of the preparation and conducting of secret investigative (search) actions in the investigation of crimes committed in the field of sugar production, as a result of which the recommendations were given to the investigators and operational units of the National Police of Ukraine regarding the algorithm of their conduct;
and Practical significance: the results obtained can be used in the research area to further improve the development of the theory of criminology, tactics and methods of investigating crimes in the field of sugar production; in the field of law-making for further improvement of the current criminal procedural legislation of Ukraine. Field of use: in teaching and methodological work for teaching courses "Criminology", "Criminal process", "Forensic examination", "Features of qualification and investigation of economic crimes", preparation of textbooks, educational and reference manuals, methodical materials.
