Kitіchenko T. Development of the historical source study in Ukraine (1840s – 1920s)

The object of research: formation and development of historical source study and its theory in under-Russian Ukraine of the 1940s of the XIX century - the 1920s of the XX century in the context of the European scientific tradition with an emphasis on scientific works on the theory of historical source study. The aim of research: to clarify the contribution of scientists in the formation and development of historical source study and its theoretical component in the 1840s - 1920s. The subject of research: leading trends in the formation and development of theoretical foundations of source study in under-Russian Ukraine of the 1940s of the XIX century - the 1920s of the XX century. The results of research and novelty: the development of the source study theory through the prism of studying the scientific works of historians, texts of lithographed lectures, sources of personal origin has been highlighted. The achievements in the field of the theory of source study in the historical science of the Russian Empire and Western European historiography have been compared, in particular, the influence of English, Western Ukrainian, German, Russian, and French methodologists on the scientific traditions of under-Russian Ukraine has been proved. The achievements in the development of the main issues of theoretical source study in historical science on the Ukrainian territory at the selected time have been shown. The sphere of usage: the further research of the current subject, writing of the synthesis works, manuals, reading of the high school courses.
