Object: the improvement process of the mechanism of competitiveness management of processing enterprises. Target: the study and the development of theoretical and methodological provisions and action-oriented recommendations on the mechanism of competitiveness management of processing enterprises. Research methods: the method of historical generalization, method of generalization of scientific experience and terminological analysis, method of analysis and synthesis, economic generalization, modelling method, systems analysis method, statistical analysis method, comparison method, ratio analysis the method of comparison and logical generalization, economic-mathematical, economic modelling and expert estimations, the method of grouping, analysis, synthesis, deduction and induction. Improved: a model for the formation of competitive potential of processing enterprises; scientific and methodical approach to assessing the level of competitiveness of oil and fat industry enterprises; the mechanism of managing the competitiveness of processing enterprises through the process of transforming their competitive advantages into competitiveness and forming a system for ensuring the competitiveness of economic actors; the priority directions to increase the competitiveness of processing enterprises of the oil-and-fat industry are grounded on the basis of the formation of the micro cluster mechanism of inter-branch connections of producers of oil-and-fats products; conceptual provisions for increasing the competitiveness of processing enterprises; were further developed: interpretation of the definition of "competitiveness of the processing industry"; definition of the concept of "managing the competitiveness of processing enterprises"; the classification of macro- and micro factors by restrictive and expansionary influence on the competitiveness of the fat-and-oil industry is expanded, which makes it possible to minimize the effects of threats on the formation of competitive advantages.
