The study of the organizational and legal principles of the activities of public formations for protection of law and order are considered in the dissertation, the concepts and types of such formations, their administrative and legal status are defined. The order of creation and termination of activity of public formations in the protection of law and order is examined; principles, forms and methods of their work are investigated. The problems of interaction of public formations on the protection of law and order with state authorities and local self-government are researched. Regulatory legal acts that regulate activities of public formations for protection of law and order are analyzed. Legislative omissions that regulate the basics of their functioning are identified. On the basis of scientific research proposals to improve the legislation that regulates the on the provision of public law and order in Ukraine.
