Essay

The dissertation is devoted to research of methodology of neoinstitutional approach in modern political science. It is proved that the peculiarity of changing approaches within the institutional paradigm is that the emergence of neo-institutionalism is due not to the internal development of "old" institutionalism, but to the reaction to behavioralism and the theory of rational choice and the integration of interdisciplinary research in the theory of organization, institutional economy and cognitive psychology. The complex set of methodological principles of neo-institutionalism (methodological individualism, multi-component human model, understanding of activities as social and market exchange) was developed for the first time, on the basis of which the basic concepts (limited rationality and opportunistic behavior), directions and approaches of new institutionalism are analyzed (the "calculative" approach corresponds to models of "economic man", "cultural" approach is based on the model of "sociological man"). A comprehensive synthesis of theoretical developments of domestic and foreign scientists on the methodology of neo-institutionalism was made and the author's interpretation of the notion of "neoinstitutional approach", which is defined as an interdisciplinary methodological approach, which combines the integrated behavioral foundations of social sciences with persistent individual preferences and expectations with the structures embodied in political rules of interaction, is proposed.
